Submission Grappling, or as you’ll hear others refer to it “No Gi” is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu based grappling class that does not use the uniform. Instead, they use attire similar to freestyle wrestling (shorts, dry fit shirts/spandex, wrestling shoes) and deal with more extensive travels into particular areas or grappling, mostly to do with Professional Grappling or MMA Sport. This class is usually is suggested to practitioners of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu once they’ve gone through a coaches assessment and basics course for their first 3 months of training.
What to expect
Regular classes include a warm-up, technical drilling, positional practice, and controlled grappling. Students develop escapes, sweeps, submissions, throws, guard passes, and practical self-defense skills.
